Question About Songs

On February 9th, 2008 Sway says:
Hello all. I'm glad to know that other people like the song "Sway" as much as I do. It is my favorite track, but maybe that will change when we his new album is released in the US. I've always been a little curious about these songs: "The Girl for Me Tonight," "Man on a Mission," and "Always Watching You." Does anyone know if they are autobiographical? LOL! I actually like the redesign of the website. In my opinion, it is creative and different! :-)

On February 10th, 2008 Sway says:
I guess no one knows the answer to my above question??? Does anyone know if they are really about him or if they are just songs that he thought would make a good story? Has he said anything about them before he introduces the songs at this concerts? I have never seen Peter in concert (I would like to though, when he finally comes to the US again). However, I did see his interview on YouTube when he was on the Paul O'Grady show back in November 2007. He is so down-to-earth and funny. He seems like a really nice guy, which is why I guess I am so curious about the origin of those songs. He just doesn't seem like the type of guy who is portrayed in those songs!

of course, Peter is able to

of course, Peter is able to create stories using just his imagination, but I think that he couldn't write anything if he had never feel the emotions that we can recognized in his songs! Probably Peter takes inspiration exactly from his experiences, from people around him, from "imagines" he can see walking in the city, from his personal thoughts about life and feelings...I think that the stories of his songs aren't just an exercise of his intellective capability. I think they are the elaboration of his emotions...which can be about erotism, sweetness, amusement, love, frendship, society...ecc.ecc. Peter can create a story, a character a place, but he can't create the emotions. so, I think his songs are very autobiographical :)

sorry for any mistakes...my english is poor :(

Peter's songs

Thank you, Shirl, for your comments. You are absolutely right. Peter is so talented and gifted that he can create almost any type of story from his imagination. I write myself and I can certainly say that I can create stories or poems which are not autobiographical, but people can think they are! He is so talented it takes my breath away! Thank you again. :-)

Peter's songs

I would just like to comment on the discussion about Peter's songs being autobiographical. They are not. Peter draws on his prolific talent and ability to weave a story from his fertile imagination to create the lyrics for his music. This is true of so many talented songwriters, in that they are able to write lyrics that are so clever and intuitive, that people think that they MUST be taken from the artist's own experiences. When it comes to interesting lyrics, be they controversial and erotic, or sweet and tender, Peter is able to tell stories in his songs about all kinds of people and situations from all walks of life that are so realistic, many fans automatically assume they are autobiographical.

Hi Alessandra: Yes, you make

Hi Alessandra:

Yes, you make a good point. We don't really know Peter. I don't think it is really fair to compare his songs and just assume that they are necessarily about him. I agree with you. I am sure he is an even better person than we imagine him or think of him to be. Like you, I, too, think "Peter is a very good person, polite, and full of energy." I have based my impressions of him on the numerous interviews and concert clips I have seen of him. In every interview I have ever seen about him, he is so intelligent, humorous, and kind. I hope you do get to meet Peter "face to face" on April 7 in Milano and are able to talk with him and get an autograph. I know that would be a dream come true for you. It would be a dream come true for me as well, but I have to wait until he comes home to the USA to see him perform live in concert. If you go to the European Peter Cincotti board, they even have videos posted of the actual concert he gave at the Olympia last week. I was amazed and enjoyed it every much. I am sure you will enjoy too, if you haven't seen it already. I love talking about Peter and his music. I could continue, but I must end it here! Their address is www.petercincotti.eu

I like Peter also for the

I like Peter also for the original and witty stuffs he introduced in East of angel town. I know that songs like Man on a mission and The girl for me tonight could seem a little different than Peter personality...but the truth is we don't really know him. I think is hard to portray who is Peter in his private life just listening his songs. probably, he is better than we can understand! I think Peter is a very good person, polite and full of energy.
I will be in Milan(Italy) for his concert on April the 7th and I hope to see him "face to face" for a signature and for tell him that I think he's special! I can't wait the date!!!!

kiss, ale

Your English is good,

Your English is good, Alessandra. I LOVE the comments you posted about the songs. Of course I think Peter is a very normal guy. I think I am looking at the songs differently, I guess. For example, the guy in "The Girl for Me Tonight" dumps her/breaks up with her the next day! To me, Peter seems like a very gentlemanly type of person who has a lot of character and class. I just thought that maybe this song was inspired by someone he knew or someone he knows. In no way am I trying to say anything negative about Peter. (Anyone who knows me knows I really like Peter and ALL his music and songs). I think he IS a wonderful songwriter, singer, musician, etc. I know now that "Always Watching You" is about a guy who works in the city and is being driven crazy by this woman he sees in the next apartment building because Peter explained that in a concert. Yes, "Man on a Mission" is really a sensual song. Thank you for your wonderful comments, Alessandra. I think they are GREAT! :-)

first of all, sorry for my

first of all, sorry for my english....I'm italian!
I think Peter is a very normal guy...so those songs make me more interested in him! Why "he just doesn't seem like the type of guy is portrayed in those songs"?
I think that Peter is part of all the stuffs he wrote...also part of Man On a mission (really sensual and funny song), The girl for me tonight (great!) and Always watching you (that is one of my favourite of all Peter discography!). He's only 24 years...he's so young and so special as musician and song-writer! I think is normal that he writes song with these kind of stuffs.
