First, it was supposed to be released at the end of 2007.
Then, it was supposed to be released in February.
Then, it was supposed to be released in February in Europe, and March for the US.
Then, it was supposed to be released in "spring of 2008."
Well, it's obviously been released in Europe.
Not so much in the US.
Do they realize that, in 12 days, it will no longer be spring?
Do they realize that they are turning off a LOT of American fans by failing to follow through on actually releasing this album?
I don't care that it was released in Europe first. It just annoys me that, after hearing so many dates of when it was "supposed to" be released, that it's STILL not in available in the US, 4 months later.
The lack of... concern? appreciation? ...for the American fans is highly disappointing and will, I have a feeling, discourage many Americans from purchasing this cd.
If the cd isnt out in the US, you can buy it from any other sites, thats what i've always done when I was looking for a particular album that wasnt out here in Italy... i've read too many lame excuses...you're are just too lazy, or either you dont want this cd that much...
downloading is illegal, and there is the risk to download virus too!!! is it worth it instead of spending few dollars??think about it...
bye!
=)
Hi, all! (esp Sassy Sue and kelly!)
OK, folks, no need to get all frizzied up about this. I can sympathise with both your sentiments, but it is true that you cannot legally download the music without paying for it. But it's also true that you're immensely frustrated by the continued inertia of the record company. So order the CD online from www.lookandlisten.co.za www.cna.co.za or anywhere else you can find it for an overseas order. Then just wait. It's very unfair to blame mr C for the unavailability of the album, especially seeing as he has no input whatsoever in the distribution of the album. And he really worked very hard to make it exceptional. If nothing else, he needs your support now more than ever. Find out who his representatives are at the record company and start flooding them with mails. Contact his agent and moan at him/her. Or something to that effect. But don't abandon him due to something completely outside his control. And don't steal his music either, that would be similar to stealing his heart and soul. Because that's what he put into this great album.
Regards
Why should I be conserned in paying him for the songs whenever he's not worried about his American fans. There is a line in Goodbye Philedelphia that says "Just like Philedelphia, freedom means a lot to me" but I wonder does Philedelphia mean that much to him if he is willing to keep his music away from it. Maybe this is his way of saying goodbye to the fans in the U.S. since all he seems to be worried about is Europe.
I congratulate you on your false sense of security, Sassy Sue. You see, I'm pretty sure that LimeWire is highly illegal. So while it *would* be incredibly easy to download those songs and it *would* be highly convenient I'm not sure how long I would be able to get away with it. Besides, what's the fun in supporting Mr. Cincotti if it doesn't involve paying him for such a high quality of entertainment. So unless you know some way that I can pay for his new album without having to have it imported, which would be more convenient, I think I'll wait until his record company wises up.
It's easy
Hello all:
I saw Peter for the first time when he opened for Stevie Nicks last month. I'm a huge Stevie fan - that is another musical addiction. In any case, I loved the music I heard from Peter and have been trying desperately to find the cd in the states, but to no avail.
Ultimately, I purchased "East of Angel Town" on ebay - a Japanese issue from a guy in Hong Kong. In case you didn't know, Japanese masters are typically significantly better than those produced in the U.S. There is also a bonus track. I don't recall the name of it.
I work in New York City so I called over to the Virgin Megastore in Times Square figuring they would probably have an import. Of course they didn't. However, if you go to their website, you can order it. But it identifies the cd as "East of Angel Town" (The New Version). That says to me that they tweeked the music somehow. Very strange.
I should be getting the cd any day now. I cannot wait to hear the rest and share my thoughts with you guys.
Peter - kick Warner-Reprise in the ass and have your publicist work overtime. Get some U.S. exposure! Establishing international stature is great, but American listeners can make or break you.
All the best.
Bob
Wow! Thank you, kellylover86, for your insightful comments. I am so glad I am not the only one in the US who feels the way you do about Peter's album not being released here in the US. I also know that this is not Peter's fault at all. Like all signed artists, he is at the mercy of the record company. I am still his unconditional fan because I love his music (even the older jazz stuff). He deserves so much better than this. He is a brilliant musician, a talented singer, and a kind person. I am very disgusted and outraged that his album has not been relased here it the US. I can only imagine how Peter must feel. He must be frustrated with the frustration!!! You are right. It is easy for the European fans to say "be patient," etc. because they can buy the album in Europe and we can only buy the import and we have waited endlessly and for an eternity for the album to be released here. Firstly, the album isn't being released. Secondly, the album and Peter aren't being promoted. Thirdly, he can't make appearances and be the recipient of reviews if the album isn't released. So, of course, how can there be sales of the album at all if there is no promotion or release date? Of course, "the sales aren't as expected!" All these "delays" are just a lot of excuses to not release the album, in my opinion.
I love your observation. You know, the whole "timeline" on your original post, mr./ms. nonymouse. First 2007, then February, then March, then "spring." Now what? I'm pretty sure those in charge saying, "spring of 2008" pretty much meant that they would get around to it eventually. And now, after this, I honestly doubt that they'll release it at all. There's one good theory I heard from willow127. Willow said it might be because the sales of the "Goodbye Philadelphia EP" were less than expected. Which seems like a big "DUH!" to me. Sure Peter Cincotti was big for a jazz artist. Those following new jazz artists loved him. But honestly, in today's society that can't be very many people. And how many of those fans who enjoyed his jazz music have revolted from his new stuff? I mean, I hadn't heard ANYTHING about him, ever. I had to find him by chance. So when his EP came out, I had heard nothing either. It's not like they promoted it. So how on EARTH can they expect large sales. The die hard jazz only fans wouldn't buy it, and so it was left for people to... well... chance upon it, like I did. The way I see it now, they either NEVER were going to focus on his "fandom" in the US or they've seriously stopped caring.
Let me be understood: I do not blame Peter Cincotti at all. I do, however, blame his record company, his agent, and anyone in charge of his publicity. His record company for doing so little to release the album, his agent for not objecting enough to make the record company doing anything, and those in charge of his publicity because they have done nothing to help his popularity in the US. In fact, I've never heard of ANYTHING but his song "Make it out Alive" being on that TV show back, early in this year. They might not even bother to release it anymore. If the sales aren't what was expected and it's soooo late in the game, they're probably thinking, "So what? Let's just give it up. We'll just tell Peter that we can't handle this one but we will release his next album in the US."
I know what those of you in Europe are thinking. You're about to hit the "reply" button or start typing in the "POST NEW COMMENT" box and give those of us in America an encouraging word or two. But please, unless you have an interesting theory, don't. At least to me, it's almost like twisting the knife that we've been stabbed with by the record company. And if that's true, I've just accused Warner Brothers of murdering all the American Peter Cincotti fans.
However much I may agree with nonymouse's thoughts I don't think I can help myself from buying this album. I probably won't tell people to buy it, and I won't be saying "This is an album you have to have," but I'm gonna have to buy it, and accepting that fact tears me up inside. Which is WORSE than Warner Brothers stabbing us. It's more like they've cut off our sections of our fingers at the different joints before cutting them all off. Same with the toes. And then the legs and the arms. But they keep us alive because it's worse to make us suffer. And then they finally, shoot us. But it's a belly wound, so it bleeds a lot and it's really painful before we finally leave this earth.......Yeah. That's what this is like.
I think whoever "they" is in this case have delayed the album's release in the US very much on purpose. I don't know how the label switch to David Foster's imprint with Warner's came about, but I think Foster/label realize that Europe is much more receptive to this kind of music. Perhaps they were hoping to use momentum in the European markets to boost USA sales or plan to focus Peter's career outside the USA. Whatever, I think the album's release likely was delayed because sales of the tunes released to iTunes was less than expected. They might be re-thinking releasing an album of all new material rather than more closely following the successful model of the first two albums. At this point, though, I have my doubts that there will be any album from Warner's, as the last date given at Amazon of Aug-08 has been pulled. Even if an album is released, the wonderful momentum following release of On The Moon is totally dissipated.
If Peter doesn't know why the album's North American release has been delayed repeatedly, he needs to have a long talk with his manager. I think he does know, but artists rarely, and wisely so IMO, discuss such issues publicly.
HELLO EVERYBODY,
I can understand the frustration about this new album released for all the USA fans.....
I think that who cares about this things (the album date and delaying), not Peter himself for sure, coz on several interviews around Europe; they asked to Peter if he knows the reasons of this strange and unexpected delaying of Album...... He replied, so desolate, that he doesn't know why.... explaining just a little his point of view, that perhaps his Label or I don't know who, decided to introduce much more his music, with a new album totally different with original material, in Europe giving a chance to Peter to enlarge his audiance ....and ect ect....
Probabily they didn't expected how many shows like this around Europe....
(in france Peter spent a lot of time touring and playing on tv and radios!!! the same in italy too....)
and for this reason they delayed the date...."step by step", but I really know that it's a little bit wrong for all the fans.....and at last for Peter too; that himself he can do nothing but only wait like you all.....
you are disapointed, can you imagine HIM, that worked so hard and put all of himself on it????!!!!
came on.....
anyway I think they have good reasons behind....and let me tell you that EAST OF ANGEL TOWN worth the wait!!!!!
after, when you will have it on your hands and first of all, in your ears and players LOL :D, you'll forget 1 year and half of waiting.... SURE!!!!
Peter did a GREAT JOB on this 3rd Album!!!
ok, some "problems" with this date release.... but for this reason the fans have to support him, much more Now than never!!!!
Be patient..... coz you will enjoy soon with Peter's Music!!!
BACK FROM THE US HAD A WICKED TIME IN NY BUT NO PETER CINCOTTI RRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! he is performing there apparentely on the 28th ..... SHITSHIT SHIT. OH WELL HOPE IN PARIS ONE DAY ...PETER IF YOU READ THIS... MAKE ME HAPPY ;-)))
I agree about the release of the album. I am a new fan and when i heard the couple of songs from the new album I got really excited about buying it. The more I wait for the release the more I think the day won't come. I live in a suburb area of Pittsburgh and probably won't get to here him live, at least not any time soon, and these few songs are not keeping me satisfied. I will buy the album though because I still enjoy the music but I am becoming impatient.
Alice from Italy may think this album is worth the wait, because she can buy it, but I wouldn't know because we can't buy it in the US. Peter, his managers, and producers are obviously not concerned with his American Fans. Well, sadly, he has one less now. After waiting over a year and a half, I willl NOT be buying this CD, period. Would anybody like to buy his first two CDs form me, cheap? Best of luck Peter in Europe.
I think that probably there have been some serious reasons for the delayed fulfillment of this album in the US, of course they didnt do it on purpose, but im feelin you, it could became kind of frustrating when you are expecting something you really care about for a certain date, and it keeps to be postponed... but trust me, just have a bit of patience, this album deserves it all!!! its great, and if you are going to listen him live its even more amazing!!! no words for that!!!
I hope in the meanwhile the album has been realised in your country...
Enjoy it!!
And I apologize for all the mistakes i've probably done up there...
Ciao!!
Alice
